Opening Weekend of Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Will Be Wunderbar!

 

(Waterloo Region, ON - September 25, 2017) - Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest, Canada's Greatest Bavarian Festival, is teaming up with the Downtown Kitchener BIA and Lot 42 Global Flex Campus to make Oktoberfest in Downtown Kitchener Wunderbar! There will be all kinds of fun activities happening in front of Kitchener City Hall at Carl Zehr Square all Thanksgiving Weekend Long.

Highlights Include:

•Opening Ceremonies on Friday October 6 at 11:00am. Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest President Margo Jones will be joined by the new Miss Oktoberfest, Onkel Hans, special guests, dignitaries and local politicians to officially tap the keg and kick off the 49th annual Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest

•Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Live Entertainment with authentic Bavarian music and traditional dance Friday October 6 – Monday October 9

•Downtown Carnival with pay to play inflatables on Saturday October 7 to Sunday October 8 (Monday October 9 if weather is nice)

•A Bavarian Bier Garten operating Friday October 7 and Saturday October 8

•Lot 42 Free Concert Series at the Downtown Kitchener Stage:

Friday October 7 features Romeo Sex Fighters, Skye Wallace, Dwayne Gretzky and more

Saturday October 8 features Skye Wallace, The Darcy’s and more

•Thanksgiving Day Parade happens on Monday October 9 at 8:30am and will be travelling along a new route. Starting at Weber and Frederick Streets and ending at Weber and Bridgeport Road. The entire Parade route will be on Weber Street this year.

Canada's Greatest Bavarian Festival celebrates German heritage, food, music and festivities and is supported by more than 40 not-for-profit organizations. The festival is operated by eight year-round full-time staff, over 480 volunteers and 1,300 Community and Service Club volunteers that stage the nine-day festival each October promoting a unique German cultural experience.
