Experience an 1890s Thanksgiving
Woodside National Historic Site invites festive visitors to experience an 1890s Thanksgiving at the boyhood home of William Lyon Mackenzie King. The historic house will be beautifully decorated for the harvest season. Our authentically-dressed staff will provide visitors with a glimpse into the Thanksgiving / Fall celebrations of the King family in the 1890s. Pumpkin cookies are ready for sampling. WCAC Annual Juried Show

Erntefest - Harvest Festival
The Joseph Schneider Haus, Kitchener’s oldest Mennonite homestead, celebrates the harvest or “Ernte” with a flurry of activity. For ten days, the seasonal tasks of a Mennonite farming family will be performed as they were in the 1850's. Domestic duties such as schnitzing, preserving, pickling and flax processing will prepare the busy household for winter. The bakehouse and drying house will be fired up throughout the week. K-W Oktoberfest Bavarian Molson Slo-Pitch Classic
Teams, from all over Ontario, are competing for Provincial and National births in Canada for 2012. Divisions are at all levels from recreational to competitive for men, co-ed and ladies. Over 200 teams participate in this event every year. Games will be held at a variety of ball diamonds in Kitchener, Waterloo & Cambridge. 7th Annual Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day and Family Fun Fest
This focused event begins at 9 am with the popular Family Fun Fest, loaded with activities! Including "Firefighter Combat Challenge", demos of firefighters performing vehicle extrication with 'jaws of life' demos, new & antique fire/emergency apparatus, Kitchener Rangers Street Team, TimBits, coffee, hot chocolate, BBQ (for donation) and children's entertainment. At 12:30, the Ceremonial Memorial Parade kicks off, featuring new and antique fire trucks, the Pipes & Drums bands, the Red Knights Motorcycle Club and more. Bogenschuetzenfest
This event is the longest continuous running Family & Cultural Event. Anyone with a barebow and special blunt-tipped arrow (flu flu) may participate in Bogenschuetzenfest on Saturday, October 8th. The aim is to knock off parts of a styrofoam eagle mounted on top a 35' pole. Archers who knock off a body part will become members of ‘The Schuetzen Guilde of Archers’. On Sunday, October 9th, competitors can compete in the Running Boar Tournament, where the target is a replica of a wild boar travelling at approximately 20 km/h. Waterloo Central Railway Heritage Train
The Waterloo Central Railway is a volunteer-run and passenger supported diesel-hauled heritage railway that runs between the City of Waterloo, the St. Jacobs Farmers Market and the Village of St. Jacobs. We offer a fully day’s experience for the whole family in the heart of Waterloo Region. Our equipment includes a 1914-era little red caboose and a 1920s-era passenger car. Passengers may hop-on and hop-off our train to suit their schedule. Lunch at the Market and an afternoon in the Village is always popular. Our St. Jacobs shop is open with two steam engines under active restoration.

Fall Harvest - Waterloo Region Museum
After the Oktoberfest Parade visit the new Waterloo Region Museum - gateway to Doon Heritage Village. German Pioneers Day
This event commemorates and acknowledges the numerous contributions made by the German immigrants to the building and establishing of the province of Ontario, and throughout all of Canada. Starting at noon, there will be cultural displays in the Rotunda and films in the Council Chamber. At 3:30 pm the Transylvania Club Brass Band (Hofbräu) will entertain. So You Think You Can Tanz
So You Think You Can Tanz was created in 2008 to showcase the local German Dance Groups in a friendly competition, held annually at the Alpine Club. Past Champions include Transylvania Dancers (2008 & 2010) and Alpine Dancers (2009). Come out to see who is crowned this year! Along with this, there will be a Polka Dance-off, where one couple from the audience will be crowned Polka King and Queen for the night! Help support your local German Club dance groups! Lutherwood Foundation Theatre & Auction Fundraiser
Lutherwood Foundation is introducing a new fundraiser and will have a private performance of Drayton’s Blood Brothers at St. Jacobs Country Playhouse on Wednesday, October 12th. Join us at 6 pm for hors d’oeuvres and refreshments in the Oktoberfest tent and be entertained by the music of the Hofbrau Band. Try wine tasting or scotch nosing or just mingle with your friends. A Silent Auction will be held in the lobby of the Playhouse and will conclude at the end of intermission. At 8 pm, guests will sit back and relax while they enjoy the play. World's Most Dangerous Bocce Ball Tournament
Teams from Toronto, Hamilton and London, as well as a strong local contingent, will compete, in this doubles Bocce Ball Tournament, for the trophy (the Oktoberfest Cup). Bocce, a sport which originated in Italy, takes elements from lawn bowling and is played on a packed sand lane. The object of the game is to throw/roll your ball closest to the movable target ball, or balin. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd Places. K-W Oktoberfest Atom Tournament
On behalf of the Tournament Directors, we are pleased to welcome all the Hockey Players, Parents, Team Officials and fans to this 38th Annual Oktoberfest Atom International Tournament. A warm welcome is extended to all teams traveling to the Kitchener-Waterloo area from across Ontario as well as the United States. With a lot of excellent teams entered this year, solid competition is expected in all four divisions, AAA, AA, A and MD. The 4 Divisional Finals will be on Sunday afternoon.
